About the role
A fast-growing company based in New York City, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to assist with advancing core people operations. You will be the go-to HR partner for employees and managers, owning day-to-day execution while shaping the HR infrastructure, processes, and culture that will support the organization’s next phase of growth.
What you’ll do
Talent & onboarding
Deliver engaging new hire orientations and ensure a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience.
Oversee offboarding, ensuring compliant, well-documented, and respectful transitions.
Own full-cycle recruiting from intake to offer, including advising hiring managers, posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and closing top talent.
Refresh and lead college recruiting and internship programs to build a sustainable early-career pipeline.
People operations, payroll & benefits
Process bi-weekly payroll processing, proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, and partner with internal teams or vendors to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Own day-to-day benefits administration, compensation changes, and leaves of absence, serving as a subject-matter resource for employees.
Keep job descriptions current and aligned with evolving business needs, internal levels, and regulatory requirements.
Performance, policies & compliance
Drive performance management cycles, including goal setting, and annual reviews, calibration support, and manager coaching.
Assist with updates to HR policies, employee handbook content, and manager resources, ensuring clarity and alignment with employment laws.
Maintain accurate organizational charts, employee directory, and core HR data in HR systems.
Culture, engagement & continuous improvement
Plan and coordinate employee engagement programs, events, and recognition efforts that reinforce the company’s values and culture.
Develop and deliver HR metrics and insights (e.g., headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, engagement themes) that inform leadership decisions.
Identify opportunities to simplify and automate HR workflows, implement scalable processes, and optimize HR systems and tools.
Stay current on HR best practices and emerging technologies and bring forward recommendations tailored to a high-growth environment.
What you bring
Experience & credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
3+ years of progressive HR experience with broad responsibility across multiple HR disciplines; prior experience in a growth or startup environment is a plus.
SHRM-CP/SCP or HRCI certification strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and demonstrated ability to apply them in practical, business-focused ways.
Skills & mindset
Experience across employee relations, performance management, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, and training.
Demonstrated success partnering with cross-functional leaders (e.g., Legal, Compliance, IT, Finance) to solve complex people issues.
Solid skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and confidence working in HRIS and related systems.
Clear, influential written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to earn trust and coach stakeholders at all levels.
Highly organized and proactive, comfortable juggling multiple priorities and driving projects from idea to implementation in a fast-paced environment.
Change-ready mindset: questions assumptions, champions continuous improvement, and thrives in matrixed and/or remote settings.
High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, with a proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
