The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) announces a search and invites applications for the Human Resources Generalist position. GCFA seeks a highly skilled Human Resources professional with progressive HR experience to assist with the following: Recruitment and Onboarding, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Policy and Procedure Compliance, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Engagement, Client Relations, Training, Performance Management, and Employment Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. The ideal candidate must have the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and serve as trusted advisor to our United Methodist constituents.
GCFA serves The United Methodist Church through financial and administrative ministries that enable the fulfillment of the mission of the Church. The HR Department provides support to GCFA, Africa University Development Office, The General Board of Church and Society, The General Commission on Religion and Race, General Commission on Archives and History, The Council of Bishops Office Staff, Holston Conference, The New England Conference, Louisiana Conference, and The Wisconsin Conference, in addition to providing as needed support to UMC entities throughout the United States and globally.
The HR Generalist will be responsible for leading the recruitment efforts, including recruiting, screening, and selecting qualified applicants to fill open positions for GCFA and UMC constituents. This position also assists in the management of the HRIS, Paycom, and its overall function for the HR Department and provides administrative assistance to the Benefits department as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Leads the recruitment process for GCFA and its constituents. Maintains and tracks requisitions; Sources candidates for open positions; Schedules, coordinates, and conducts interviews for internal and external positions; Handles pre-employment screens and paperwork, as well as employment background checks; Prepares weekly update on current requisitions.
- Assists in maintaining Paycom data, including assisting with the payroll processing review and data changes on an as needed basis.
- Builds relationships across all levels of the organization and serves as trusted advisor to our clients. Assists in the design and implementation of HR practices, processes, and policies that align with our constituents’ goals and industry best practices.
- Provides assistance to the Benefits Department for the General Agencies in support of all benefits provided for both active and retired employees of the General Agencies of The United Methodist Church.
- Assists in day-to-day administrative functions for the department as needed.
- Supports the HR Team in ongoing initiatives and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or similar field is required.
- Preferably 4-6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Complex understanding of HR principles and disciplines, as well as state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- SHRM or HRCI Certification is preferred.
- Experience with HR consulting is highly desirable.
- Experience with Paycom HRIS software is highly desirable.
- Experience executing strategies and managing projects that promote a culture of superior customer service and exceptional employee engagement.
- Experience communicating and implementing HR programs, policies, practices, and processes engagement.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, and high-impact communication style.
- Able to work independently; self-starter; problem solver with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn UMC polity and organizational structure is essential. UMC Member is preferred.
