Description
If you love making a difference in the lives of older adults, this is a great opportunity! Kirkwood by the River is a Non-Profit Continuing Care Retirement Community located in the Birmingham/Irondale area and we are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources.
This position requires the candidates to have knowledge and experience in all aspects of Human Resources. The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Requirements
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Department;
- Oversees the paperwork process and documentation on all employees according to State and Federal regulations;
- Directs and administers benefit programs including group insurance plans and the 403(b) Retirement Plan; including directing Annual Open Enrollment;
- Audits and insures accuracy of enrollment and billing of employee benefits on a monthly basis;
- Advises and counsels managers and staff to resolve HR issues and problems within Kirkwood’s policies and government regulations;
- Keep the CEO/President apprised of any changes in policy as related to any federal mandates or changes in regulation to include Affordable Care Act, 403(b) plan administration, or any other human resources related functions in which policy changes are necessary for Kirkwood to remain in compliance;
- Determines the need for and recommends changes in the personnel policy;
- Monitors and oversees the Workers' Compensation Program;
- Assist in miscellaneous departmental duties/functions as needed;
- And all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Degree in Human Resources Management preferred;
- Prefer ten plus years of applicable experience in the Healthcare Industry;
- Familiarity with benefits administration and HR processes is a plus;
- PC skills using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and personnel information systems required;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include being able to speak, read and understand the English language;
- Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
