The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative HR professional to serve as its Human Resources Coordinator. Reporting to the HR Director, this position plays a key role in managing the Village’s risk management and wellness programs, training and development initiatives, and the recruitment and selection process for sworn Police and Fire positions. This role supports a strong organizational culture, helps advance key employee-focused initiatives, and works closely with departments across the Village. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded HR professional to contribute to all aspects of the Department’s work.
The HR Coordinator oversees the Village’s Workers’ Compensation and risk management activities, ensuring accurate reporting, coordinated case management, and OSHA compliance. The HR Coordinator will develop safety training programs, partner with staff to implement injury-prevention practices, and update policies to reflect current legal requirements. The HR Coordinator is also the Chair for the Accident Prevention Board.
The HR Coordinator plans and promotes Village-wide wellness initiatives, manages an annual training calendar for Village employees, evaluates training effectiveness, and supports professional growth across the organization. The position also administers entry-level and promotional testing for sworn Police and Fire positions and may serve as backup liaison to the Fire and Police Commission.
Additional responsibilities may include participating in collective bargaining, assisting with employee investigations and disciplinary processes, and supporting with non-sworn recruitment and benefits administration as needed. The role requires a high level of independence, discretion, and sound judgment.
The starting salary for this position starts at $101,621, depending on qualifications, with a full salary range of $101,621–$137,189. Occasional evening meetings may be required.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field, with at least five years of professional HR experience. Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are preferred. Experience with Tyler Munis is preferred.
