Title: HR PartnerVP Area: Human Resources

Work Schedule: Fixed daytime hours Monday-Friday

Job Purpose:
The HR Partner acts as a liaison between Human Resources and the colleagues within assigned divisions/departments. The position provides colleague/employee relations support and partners with supervisors to improve work relationships and productivity. The HR Partner proactively works on creating and maintaining Gonzaga University as a welcoming and inclusive environment for all through outreach, consulting, and policy advisement that is founded in the mission of Gonzaga University.
Essential Functions:
- 50% - Colleague Relations
- Consults with supervisors and leadership in assigned divisions/departments regarding employee relations, performance management, policy adherence, corrective action, etc.
- Develops positive working relationships with colleagues and assists communications regarding Human Resources or organizational changes, policies, projects, trainings, programs, etc.
- Partners with members of the Human Resources department to ensure high quality customer service on cases involving several aspects of HR (accommodations, employee relations, complaint process, recruiting, corrective action, etc.).
- Ensures that colleague/employee relations issues are handled in a timely manner, and cases are managed through to completion.
- Conducts job description reviews in preparation for recruiting and/or compensation analysis.
- Facilitates regular meetings with supervisors and leadership in assigned division/departments to provide status updates on issues within the department/division, performance and behavior management guidance, policy guidance and interpretations, and to seek input on any topic related to Human Resources or employment.
- 40% - Corrective Action and Conflict Resolution
- Under guidance of leadership, responsible for compliance and interpretation of the University's Policies and Procedures Manual, Faculty Handbook, and departmental/division policies.
- Under guidance of leadership, conducts investigations into employee relations complaints, documents investigation and writes report with any recommended resolutions; advises HR leadership and division/department supervisors of concerns and recommendations; may assist in carrying out resolutions.
- Under guidance of leadership, facilitates corrective action to address colleague performance issues.
- Proactively assists employees and leadership in resolving work-related conflicts through coaching and providing guidance consistent with the University's mission, values and policies and procedures.
- 10% - Documentation, Recordkeeping, and Metrics
- Maintains required employment and investigation files and documentation as required by internal practices and governing regulations, including routine auditing of relevant files.
- Utilizes various HR systems and records to retrieve information on individual employees, histories, and situations, going to HRIS staff for higher level or specialized data needs.
- Partners with Human Resources staff and leadership to identify potential patterns, trends, policy recommendations and concerns to forward for consideration, utilizing HR metrics to inform as applicable.

Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
3 years
In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressively responsible professional HR experience, including employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and consulting skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace aligned with Gonzaga's Jesuit, Catholic, and humanistic mission.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and handling HR Case Management processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR).
- Experience serving as an HR Partner or Generalist in a higher education or similarly complex, multi-unit environment.
- Demonstrated success in organizational development, change management, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Experience coaching and advising leaders on strategic HR issues.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $37.00 - $39.00 per hour
Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): $32.89
Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): $41.10
Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): $49.32
