Description
The Human Resource Manager, reporting to the Chief Labor Relations & Engagement Officer, plays a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of all human resources programs. Their primary responsibilities include oversight of the employee benefits, compliance, performance management, recruitment, staffing, and various other HR initiatives. The first 90 days, the incumbent will work on site; after 90 days, one day may be performed on a remote basis; this is always subject to change based on business need.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in using an HR Information System and applicant tracking system (Paycom preferred)
- Working knowledge of workplace benefit programs and plan administration
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal employment and labor laws, including DOL, FMLA, EEO, NLRA, and FLSA
- Understanding of health plan compliance rules (ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, etc.)
- Exceptionally organized and process-driven with keen attention to detail
- Strong investigatory, fact-finding, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Utmost care in handling confidential and sensitive employment issues and information
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, self-motivation, and follow-through on tasks and work assignments, with strategic thinking applied in all scenarios
- Proficient in project and people management
- Ability to relate to individuals at all organizational levels, as well as build and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high quality of work
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration
- Minimum of 5 years experience in HR, with demonstrated progressive responsibilities in people operations and HR administration required
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory capacity role required
- Proven experience administering HR programs including employee benefits plans required
- Experience processing payroll and/or responding to and handling payroll matters preferred
- Proficiency with HR systems
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations required
- Experience working in a Union environment or involvement with grievances, workplace investigations, or labor relations preferred
- HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
