The Director of Human Resources is expected to be comfortable working for an overtly Christian organization and possess a passion for the mission of Atherton, www.abh.org. Atherton has approximately 220 employees including the outsourced food services operation.
Description:
Atherton Baptist Homes is looking for a full-time Director of Human Resources to fulfill the key responsibilities listed below.
The Human Resources Manager directly reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports the Organization’s business model and mission.
Develops and implements programs and committees that will ensure a positive employee relations environment.
Provides counsel to executive leadership team in all aspects of human resources management.
Ensures effective organizational development through counseling management on recruitment, succession planning, career development, performance management as well as assessment and prioritization.
Recruits, interviews, and screens employees to fill vacant positions in conjunction with Department Managers.
Selects, develops, and motivates staff that meet or exceed performance expectations.
Oversees the maintenance of all personnel records, such as insurance coverage, pension plan enrollment, and employee files.
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
Oversees the compensation and benefit programs and ensures compliance with corporate guidelines in conjunction with the senior leadership team.
Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plans and salary structure.
Prepares personnel forecast to project employment needs in conjunction with the senior leadership team.
Consults with Organization’s legal counsel and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local human resource related regulations.
Writes directives advising department heads of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
Coordinates Workers’ Compensation claims, incidents, investigations, and claims management.
Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies or other departments in the organization.
Studies and understands legislation to maintain organizational compliance.
Represents organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.
Keeps records for governmental reporting purposes.
Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews.
Tracks absenteeism, Overtime, and 5th Hour Violations; prepare reports and recommend procedures to improve compliance and reduce absenteeism and turnover.
Makes presentations to all employees regarding changes in benefits, policies, and procedures.
Carriers out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Oversees annual updates of the Employee Handbook.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong networking, adaptability, and time-management skills. A candidate must be able to maintain confidence in tasks such as interviewing, prospecting, and evaluating employees.
We need a team player with strong leadership skills and 5 or more years of demonstrated ability to manage the HR function effectively. You are ideal for us if you can help us hire the right people, keep our employees engaged, keep our culture on track, and work to keep us in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field and be comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) databases is important. REQUIRED OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Represent the Organization at functions, conventions, and seminars as directed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED or TO BE MASTERED:
Four-year college degree. A master’s degree in human resources or a related field is a plus
SHRM Certification or HRCI certification
Working knowledge of all related local, state and federal regulations.
Must be able to read and write the English language proficiently.
