Job Overview: As an Sr. HR Generalist with our company, you will serve as a strategic and hands-on partner to the HR Director, leadership and staff across the organization. With 5-7 years of general HR experience, you will bring expertise in benefits administration, regulatory compliance, policy development, HRIS administration and employee relations. This position requires a solid understanding of HR best practices, and exceptional customer service skills, while ensuring compliance with federal, state and contractual labor laws. The HR Generalist should deliver strong operational execution in HR programs and processes while contributing to the continuous improvement of people operations, policy development and organizational culture. This is a hands-on contributor position with a strong partnership with the HR Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership to support organizational goals through effective HR strategy, policy and program administration.
- Administer and assist in development of human resources programs related to benefits administration, new hire orientation, compensation, performance management, employee relations and investigations, training and recruiting, employee culture and experience.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Director.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HR laws and regulations, including but not limited to AAP, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, HIPPA, requirements.
- Assist with developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory standards.
- Manage employee leave administration to include FMLA, ADA, STD.
- Oversee benefits administration including enrollments, audits, vendor relations and compliance.
- Welcome employee calls and follow-ups.
- Schedule and Conduct Exit interviews and conduct analysis.
- Provide excellent and timely customer service to employees, addressing inquiries and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, ensuring a positive and informative experience.
- Support employee’s and program managers in day-to-day activities.
- Manage less complex employee relations issues.
- Assist with and eventually own compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Maintains knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and specific contract requirements such as Wage Determinations or Union Agreements
- Manage and utilize HRIS platform (UKG Ready) ensuring data integrity, system optimization, employee account maintenance and accurate reporting.
- Support learning and development initiatives, including training program coordination and employee skills development.
- Maintain and update internal SOPs as necessary
- Special projects as required, drawing on background HR knowledge.
- Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to meeting deadlines – occasionally willing to work beyond standard hours when needing to meet deadlines, support special projects or ensure a smooth transition during critical HR cycles.
- Identify and implement initiatives to deliver HR excellence.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in HR, with specific experience in government contracting, benefits administration, regulatory compliance, and policy development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
- Proficiency in utilizing HRIS systems; experience with UKG (or similar HR software) preferred.
- Understanding of HR laws and regulations, particularly within the government contracting industry.
- Experience in an ISO/CMMI/CMMC environment preferred.
- Ability to perform a variety of increasingly complex work in human resources.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Problem solving skills and ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortability with juggling and triaging competing priorities
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Detail oriented and able to provide timely follow-up and resolution.
- Comfortable being on camera and in front of small groups (.e orientation, training)
- Ability to trouble shoot, identify improvements and make simple decisions independently. Ability to discern when to escalate.
- HR Certification a plus (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP)
