- Director of Human Resources
Description
The Organization
Indiana Donor Network (IDN) is a Tier 1 large organ procurement organization based in Indianapolis, ranked the top large OPO in the nation. IDN also operates TxJet, the country's first nonprofit organ transplant aviation program. The organization employs approximately 400 people and operates on an annual budget of roughly $120 million, spanning clinical operations, organ recovery, tissue services, logistics, and aviation.
The Opportunity
IDN is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the full HR function for the organization. This is a hands-on, high-scope role: the Director owns compensation and benefits strategy end to end, runs full-cycle talent acquisition across all departments including high-volume clinical and shift-based roles, and leads a team of seven. The role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
This is not an administrative HR post. The successful candidate will be a strategic operator who has designed and managed compensation structures and benefit plans, not merely administered them, and who has run talent acquisition at scale in a complex, regulated operating environment. Given IDN's national standing and the caliber of talent the organization intends to attract into every seat, the Director of HR must be equally capable of representing that standard.
Base Salary: $175,000 $210,000, commensurate with experience Bonus Target: TBD Benefits: Employer-paid medical, life, and short- and long-term disability insurance (no employee premium cost), company-paid pet insurance, and a 403(b) match as well as HSA contributions.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Own compensation and benefits strategy across the organization, including plan design, market benchmarking, and structural review as IDN's workforce and roles evolve.
Lead full-cycle talent acquisition for all 400 positions, including clinical, logistics, aviation, and administrative roles, building and managing a recruiting function capable of competing for top talent in a competitive healthcare labor market.
Manage and develop an HR team of seven, spanning recruiting, compensation and benefits administration, and generalist support.
Serve as a strategic partner to the COO and senior leadership team on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy.
Ensure HR practices support IDN's operating standard of hiring and retaining top talent without compromise.
Candidate Profile
A proven HR leader with a track record of owning both strategy and execution, ideally with experience in healthcare, a comparably regulated industry, or a comparably complex operating environment. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is strongly preferred. Experience managing a team of similar size and scope, with demonstrated success building compensation structures and benefit programs from the ground up, is essential.
IDN is based in Indianapolis and this is an in-market role; candidates must be willing to relocate to the Indianapolis area.
