Work Environment

As a Physician Assistant in our surgical center, you will enjoy an onsite, full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. This supportive work setting encourages collaboration with a team of skilled healthcare professionals, including physicians, nursing staff, and specialist consultants, all dedicated to delivering quality surgical care. Our facility is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and resources necessary to support high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations to assess patient needs before and after surgical interventions.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies, to inform treatment plans.
• Develop, initiate, and manage treatment plans for both acute and chronic medical conditions among surgical patients.
• Assist with, and where appropriate, perform bedside procedures such as wound care, suturing, and other surgical interventions, as dictated by the specialty.
• Collaborate closely with supervising physicians, nursing personnel, case managers, and other specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Act as a critical liaison between patients, their families, and multidisciplinary medical teams, ensuring clear communication and understanding of treatment plans.
• Facilitate hospital admissions, conduct daily rounds to monitor progress, and oversee patient discharges with follow-up care instructions.
• Maintain thorough and accurate patient documentation in compliance with hospital policies and standards, utilizing our electronic health record system (EHR).

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work primarily with surgical patients, including those undergoing elective, urgent, and emergent procedures. Your focus will be on delivering comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, addressing the diverse medical needs of patients from various backgrounds. Our commitment to patient advocacy means that you will frequently engage with families, providing support and education throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
• Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Active licensure in the state of Oregon, or eligibility to obtain the necessary state licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required (or the ability to obtain upon hire).
• Demonstrated clinical judgment and the ability to adapt in high-pressure situations.
• Proven teamwork skills and the capability to thrive within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• A strong commitment to continuous learning and a patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or acute care setting, particularly within surgical medicine.
• Previous experience with electronic health records and inpatient care management systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Beacon Spring Hospital offers a competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
