About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist II – Benefits & Administration to join our member’s HR team. In this role, you will be responsible for administering employee benefits programs, managing HR records and processes, supporting leave administration, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional customer service to employees and managers.
This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys balancing employee support, benefits administration, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations while helping create a positive workplace experience.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs, including:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Life and disability insurance
- Retirement plans
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Michigan ESTA leave requirements
- Employee wellness initiatives
- Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Conduct new hire benefits orientations and educate employees on available benefit offerings.
- Respond to employee questions regarding eligibility, coverage, claims, and enrollment.
- Partner with benefit brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues.
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
- Support annual open enrollment planning, communications, and implementation.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS.
- Process employee status changes including hires, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, and terminations.
- Prepare employment-related documentation, including offer letters and employment verification requests.
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Assist payroll by ensuring employee information and benefit deductions are accurate and up to date.
Leave Administration
- Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term disability, long-term disability, and other leave programs.
- Monitor leave cases and maintain required documentation.
- Communicate with employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, requirements, and return-to-work processes.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Assist with audits and compliance activities, including:
- ACA
- COBRA
- ERISA
- HIPAA
- Generate HR reports, metrics, and data analysis as needed.
- Stay informed on HR regulations, benefits trends, and industry best practices.
Employee Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding benefits, HR policies, and administrative procedures.
- Provide responsive, professional, and confidential HR support.
- Assist with employee communications and HR initiatives that enhance the employee experience.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or HR Operations.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits, HR policies, and employment regulations.
- Experience with Paycom HRIS is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
