Job Summary:
Paligen Technologies is seeking a talented Manager of Human Resources to join our defense business. The Manager of HR will be responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring a variety of human resource programs. They will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes within the organization. This role supports business needs and ensures proper implementation of company strategy and objectives through effective management of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Strategy & Leadership:
- Effectively partnering with operational teammates and senior leadership on key issues and business strategy.
- Influence and support a culture of ethics and compliance
- Manage, develop, mentor, and inspire a team of high performing HR professionals to champion a positive and safe work environment and comply with regulations and policies
- Support organizational development, including succession planning and leadership development.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external partners.
- Stays current on HR trends and upcoming regulatory changes.
Labor /Collective Bargaining:
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and CBA.
- Advise on grievances and other labor related issues.
- Develop constructive relationships with union leadership and business agents.
Employee Relations:
- Provide counsel on employee relations strategy, including investigation of issues, compliance with legal requirements, disciplinary actions, and coaching support.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure the company's operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Identify potential HR risks, develop mitigation strategies, and advise on risk management practices.
- Support employee training and tracking of training.
- Ensure HR team adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and practices to mitigate legal risks and manage compliance programs.
Talent Acquisition / Staffing:
- Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention programs to attract and retain top talent.
- Partner with HR team and other functional groups to build on current practices of attracting and retaining world-class talent.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Develop talent pipelines with high schools and colleges.
Employee Engagement:
- Determine measurement tools for employee engagement and implement actions to improve when necessary.
- Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and promote a positive workplace culture.
Trusted Partner:
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on people-related matters.
- Support and maintain the trusted partner brand for the HR team.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall business objectives
- Act with integrity, work collaboratively, meet commitments, and apply continual improvement methodologies in all work.
- Other projects assigned and directed by Leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years' experience in an HR leadership role.
- Experience supporting manufacturing environments.
- Union and collective bargaining experience required.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Strong understanding of labor laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Ability to support conflict resolution.
Other Requirements:
- Travel: <25%
- Work Environment: Office work environment.
- Background Investigation / Drug Screen / US Person: Required.
