Description
Position Summary
The Payroll / HR Generalist supports the Human Resources function with a primary focus on accurate, compliant payroll processing while also providing generalistlevel HR support across employee lifecycle activities. This role serves as a key partner to HR leadership, supervisors, and employees to ensure payroll integrity, data accuracy, and adherence to employment laws and company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time, including regular wages, overtime, PTO payouts, bonuses, stipends, and other earnings.
- Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy before submission and final approval.
- Maintain payroll records, deduction codes, tax files, garnishments, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax requirements, and reporting deadlines.
- Coordinate payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, promotions, pay changes, and job changes.
- Partner with HR leadership and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies and improve payroll processes.
- Support yearend payroll activities, including W2 processing and audits.
HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Administer employee data changes within the HRIS to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and employee lifecycle documentation.
- Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee inquiries related to compensation and benefits.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
- Support employee relations activities, including documentation, investigations, and compliance tracking.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and HR compliance initiatives.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and HR compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadlinedriven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS / payroll systems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in payroll and human resources administration.
- Experience supporting payroll processing in a multisite or manufacturing environment.
- Paylocity system experience preferred.
