Description
System Director of Human Resources | Enterprise HR Executive Leadership
Bozeman Health | Bozeman, Montana
The Christopher Group is partnering with Bozeman Health in the search for a System Director of Human Resources & Employee Health, a highly visible executive HR leadership opportunity with broad responsibility across the health system.
While the formal title is System Director, the scope of this position extends well beyond a traditional HR Director role. This leader will serve as a principal advisor to the Chief Human Resources & Communication Officer and will play a central role in shaping and executing Bozeman Health's people strategy across the system. The position combines enterprise-level strategic leadership with direct accountability for the day-to-day effectiveness of the HR function.
For an accomplished healthcare HR leader, this is an opportunity to step into a broad, influential role with exposure across virtually every area of Human Resources while helping shape the future people strategy of an independent health system.
The Opportunity
The System Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across Human Resources and Employee Health, partnering closely with executive, clinical, and operational leaders throughout Bozeman Health.
The leader will help drive the organization's overall people strategy while overseeing and advancing key areas including:
- Enterprise HR strategy and organizational effectiveness
- Compensation philosophy, structure, benefits, wellness, and recognition
- Workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, and employee engagement
- Employee and labor relations
- HR operations, HR technology, onboarding, compliance, and policy
- Leadership and development of the HR team
- Employee Health and workforce support programs
- Physician and advanced practice provider recruitment and compensation
- Employee housing programs supporting workforce attraction and retention
- Organizational change, process improvement, workforce analytics, and technology adoption
This individual will have the opportunity to influence both strategy and execution, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while ensuring HR programs, systems, and practices effectively support the organization's workforce and long-term priorities.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
This is not a narrowly defined functional HR leadership position. Bozeman Health is seeking an experienced healthcare HR executive who can operate across the full spectrum of Human Resources and bring together strategy, operations, people leadership, and execution.
The successful leader will have the opportunity to:
- Serve as a key strategic partner and principal advisor to the Chief Human Resources & Communication Officer.
- Help shape and execute the people strategy across a complex, multi-facility healthcare system.
- Lead and develop HR leaders and build greater capability across the HR organization.
- Influence compensation and total rewards strategy to strengthen attraction and retention of clinical and non-clinical talent.
- Partner directly with executive, clinical, and operational leaders on workforce priorities.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives involving organizational change, workforce planning, HR infrastructure, technology, and employee experience.
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in an environment where HR has a direct impact on organizational performance.
Why Bozeman Health
This opportunity offers something increasingly difficult to find in healthcare HR leadership: the ability to have meaningful enterprise-level influence while remaining close enough to the organization to see the impact of your work.
The System Director will join an independent health system where the HR leader can develop strong relationships with executives, clinical leaders, operational leaders, and the workforce while helping shape programs and strategies that affect the organization broadly.
The position also offers the opportunity to live and work in Bozeman, Montana, a community known for its exceptional access to the outdoors, four-season recreation, and quality of life. For a leader who values both professional impact and an active lifestyle, this is a unique opportunity to combine the two.
Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will be a collaborative, credible, and highly capable HR executive who is comfortable moving between the strategic and operational sides of Human Resources. They will bring strong judgment, executive presence, curiosity, and the ability to build trusted relationships throughout a healthcare organization.
Most importantly, this leader will see the opportunity not simply as running HR programs, but as helping lead the people strategy of Bozeman Health and building the HR capabilities the organization needs for the future.
