Mission
Waséyabek Development Company, LLC (Waséyabek) is a legal entity, created and wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP or Band), a federally recognized Indian Tribe to serve as the holding company through which the Band acquires, develops and manages a diversified portfolio of non-gaming business assets. Waséyabek's portfolio currently includes commercial real estate, industrial and manufacturing operations, professional services companies, trucking, logistics and warehousing, and federal contracting entities. Waseyabek plays a key role in advancing the NHBP's economic development and long-term sustainability.

Position Summary
This position supports the day-to-day operational needs of the Human Resources Department as well as providing support to project-based tasks. This will give the intern gainful experience and knowledge in the workings of a tribally owned economic development HR environment.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
• Collaborate with team members to learn best practices, tools, and processes.
• Assist the HR team with day-to-day operations and special projects.
• Provide clerical and administrative support to the HR department.
• Assist with and gain exposure to talent acquisition and onboarding practices and processes.
• Work with HR team on AI-driven projects.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of talent development curriculum.
• Assist with additional HR projects and provide general support to the team as needed
• Collaborate with team members to support overall HR department operations while handling sensitive information with discretion.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants must possess any education, training or experience necessary to perform all essential duties and responsibilities associated with the position. Education, training and experience indicative of an individual's ability to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities, include the following:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- An interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including but not limited to personal and professional financial history, nationwide criminal record search, credit check, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WDC.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with recruitment platforms or HRIS systems
Prior knowledge or experience working with a Native American Tribe.

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required, up to 10% of the time. The travel may be local or national and may be by car, rail, or air.
